What EAD/PPO2 Analyzer Does

The EAD/PPO2 Analyzer is a real-time safety dashboard for any breathing gas at any depth. Enter your mix (nitrox, trimix, or heliox) and a depth, and the analyzer simultaneously displays: partial pressure of oxygen (PPO2), equivalent air depth (EAD) for deco table lookup, equivalent narcotic depth (END) for narcosis assessment, and gas density for work-of-breathing evaluation.

The analyzer flags unsafe values with clear visual warnings. PPO2 above 1.4 bar (bottom gas) or 1.6 bar (deco gas) triggers an oxygen toxicity warning. END beyond your configured limit flags narcosis risk. Gas density above 5.7 g/L warns of increased work of breathing.

You can sweep through depths to find the safe operating range for any mix, or compare multiple mixes at a fixed depth to choose the best option. The tool is invaluable during dive planning for verifying that your gas choices stay within safe limits at every phase of the dive.

Partial Pressures & Equivalent Depths

PPO2 = FO2 × P_ambient. At 30m on EAN32, PPO2 = 0.32 × 4 = 1.28 bar — within limits. EAD converts nitrox depth to the equivalent air depth that produces the same nitrogen loading: EAD = (FN2_mix / 0.79) × P_ambient − 1, converted to depth. END does the same for narcotic potency, treating oxygen as narcotic (Narcotic Fraction × P_ambient). These calculations let you use standard air tables with enriched mixes and assess narcosis risk on trimix dives.
