What it is
Certifications is a digital wallet for your diving qualifications. You add a card for each certification you hold (agency, level, cert number, dates, and optional instructor details), and the app keeps them in a tidy list you can browse, swipe through, edit, and delete. It recognises common agencies such as PADI, SSI, and SDI/TDI and shows their logo, and it accepts custom entries for agencies it does not know.
View your certifications
From the Manage tab, tap Certifications. You see your cards in a scrolling list:
- Each card shows the agency logo (when the agency is recognised), the certification name, your cert number, and the dates.
- Cards are sorted newest first, by the date you were certified, then by agency name, then by certification name.
- On a tablet the list lays out in two columns.
- An Add Certification card sits at the end of the list.
Tap any card to open the detail view. This is a swipeable carousel: it shows one card at a time with a page indicator (such as “2 / 5”). It opens on the card you tapped, and you swipe left or right to move between the others. From the menu in the header you can edit, add a new one, or delete the card you are viewing.
Add a certification
Tap the Add Certification card in the list, or choose Add New Certification from the carousel menu. The form opens with the title “Add Certification” and three sections:
- Basic Information: Agency, Certification, and Certification Number.
- Dates: Certified On (required) and Expires On (optional).
- Instructor: Instructor Name, Instructor ID, and Dive Centre (all optional).
Type an agency and the Certification field offers the matching levels for it; pick one or type your own. When you select a recognised agency, its logo appears on the form. For an agency that is not in the built-in database, just type the agency and certification names and the app saves them as a custom card.
The Dates and Instructor sections each have a clear button in their header (the trash icon) that wipes all of that section’s fields at once. Each button stays disabled until at least one field in its section is filled.
Fill in the fields and tap Save in the header.
Edit or delete a certification
To change a card, open it in the carousel and choose Edit Certification from the header menu. The form opens, titled “Edit Certification”, pre-filled with the card’s current details. Make your changes and save.
To remove a card, open it and choose Delete Certification from the menu. The app asks you to confirm, because a deleted card cannot be recovered.
Fields a card holds
| Field | What it is | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Agency | The certifying body (PADI, SSI, SDI/TDI, or a custom name) | Yes |
| Certification | The level or course (for example Open Water, Advanced, Nitrox) | Yes |
| Certification Number | Your number on the card | Yes |
| Certified On | The date you earned it | Yes |
| Expires On | The date it expires, for time-limited certifications | No |
| Instructor Name | Who certified you | No |
| Instructor ID | The instructor’s number | No |
| Dive Centre | The centre where you trained | No |
The detail view flags an expiring or expired certification so you notice it before it lapses.
Where your data is stored
Your certifications are stored on your device in the app’s local database. Dive Kit has no account and does not upload them, so they stay private to your device and are available offline. If you delete the app, your certification cards go with it.
Behaviour and limits
- Agency, certification, and cert number are required, and an expiry date (if you set one) must be after the certified date.
- The app does not verify a certification with the agency. It stores exactly what you type, so check your spelling and numbers.
- Photos of the physical card (front and back) and scanning a card by QR code are not available in the app today. Cards are entered by typing the details.
Related
- Profile holds your personal diver details, separate from your certification cards.
